Brendan Burke (piano, electronics and processing) with Fred Lonberg-Holm (Vandermark 5, Lightbox Orchestra, etc.) on cello make clear-eyed and pensive music that gazes across smoldering ruins, oceanic expanse and deserted shores. Swells of sustain heave themselves across the haunted soundscape and then slowly flow back to whence they came. The vibrations of cello strings or piano chords are sampled and transformed. Voices murmur deep in the background, rise to discernible levels and recede. "The record... is punctuated by gorgeous string/piano harmonies, a halting sense of melancholy, and a dreaminess that can only come from long sustains on a cello" says Deep Movements.
